Poll: Presidentiables

Who among the presidential candidates will you vote?


Grace Poe:
- On October 10, 2010, Senator Poe was appointed by PNoy as chairwoman of MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board).
- May 2013, Poe was elected as one of the Senators of the Philippines.

- Led the hearings, as chair of the public services sub-committee on MRT and LRT issues to provide solutions to MRT problems.
- Senator Poe also gave focus on the Philippine National Police, wherein she submitted a committee report to address challenges in the PNP which include logistics, weapons, human resource system, increasing criminality and deterioration of police stations.
- Poe has also filed a bill seeking to provide Filipino children full protection and support, especially from day one in the womb until they reach the age of two. Under the measure, mothers and children will be protected from malnutrition through a comprehensive health care program for pregnant and lactating women as well as the health and nutrition of children from conception to 1,000 days.

Mar Roxas:
- As congressman, he supported consumer protection, especially focusing on affordable medicines. Among his laws include:
- RA No. 8759 Public Employment Service Office which serves as employment facilitation center.
- RA No. 8756 incentivizing the establishment of regional headquarters to encourage investment and operation of multinational companies in the country to generate more jobs.
- RA No. 7880 (Roxas Law), ensuring fair distribution of the education capital budget through all the provinces.
- In 2000, Roxas was appointed as Trade and Industry Secretary by the then president Estrada. During his DTI appointment, he focused on the development of palengke/market and was labeled as Mr. Palengke.
- Roxas launched 'Make IT Philippines' and organized the first IT-enabled services (ITES) to the United States which led to the biggest global industry names to invest in the Philippines (which we most commonly known as BPO-Business Process Outsourcing/Call Centers), that started with mere 2000 jobs but has now grown to hundreds of thousands of jobs thereby putting the Philippines on the map as major IT/BPO destination.
- He worked on reopening of the National Steel Corporation and later launched the Garment Export Industry Transformation Plan and Assistance Package both of which gave and secure numerous jobs for Filipinos.

Jejomar Binay:
- One of the founders of MABINI (Movement of Attorneys for Brotherhood, Integrity and Nationalism, Inc.)
- After the EDSA Revolution, the then President Corazon Aquino appointed Mr. Binay as acting Mayor of Makati and later on won on his own as mayor of Makati in 1988 and was reelected in 1992 and 1995, then on 2001 returned in Makati and served 3 full terms.
- In 1998, Mr. Binay was appointed as Chairman of MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) and was appointed as Vice-chairman of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission and Traffic Czar for Metro Manila.

Miriam Defensor Santiago:
- Earned her degree, Doctor of Judicial Science in the United States.
- She earned the degrees Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude; and Bachelor of Laws, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines.
- Dr. Santiago was a U.P. law professor for some 10years and has written some 30 books. She is the leading expert of her generation in constitutional law and international law.
- She has filed the highest number of bills and authored some of the most important laws.
